Then you are definitely wrong, after Google announced its PowerMeter, which reads information coming from a smart meter and displays it real-time on a web site (in short this is a web application), Microsoft has announced Tuesday their new internet software that would help consumers measure their electricity usage and thus, they can figure out how to cut it off.

that energy conservation will serve as priority of his administration. "Microsoft Hohm demonstrates how a combination of advanced software and Internet-based services can help people track, understand and manage their personal energy usage."Craig Mundie, chief research and strategy officer at Microsoft, said.
Microsoft Hohm will be launched by next week and the good thing, the service will be free for all consumers but to those users who have advanced utility meters and whose utilities sign up to use the system will get more accurate and useful information.
At the end of the day, everyone will still be part of this undertakings, save energy bills.
