Nokia gets new CEO, Microsoft Exec takes over
After the controversial resignation of HP CEO, Mark Hurd and his jumping to Oracle, here comes a BIG news to the technology/IT companies. Microsoft executive Stephen Elop will be replacing Nokia Corp. CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo with its aim to regain lost share in the very competitive smart phone market.

In 2005, Elop became CEO of Macromedia, maker of Flash software, just months before Adobe bought the company.He is a computer engineering and management graduate from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, and also served as a systems executive at Boston Chicken, Inc.
Elop has played a role in the growing cooperation between Nokia and Microsoft in recent years. In 2009, Nokia launched its first laptop, a netbook with a 10-inch screen that runs on Microsoft's Windows 7 software. Previously, access to some of Microsoft's most popular Web services, such as Hotmail and instant messaging, have been built into Nokia phone models.
The 57-year-old Kallasvuo, who joined the company in 1982, will leave as president and CEO on Sept. 20. Elop will replace Kallasvuo on Nokia's board, though Kallasvuo will continue to chair the board of the Nokia Siemens Networks unit in a non-executive capacity. Nokia Siemens Networks, Nokia's joint venture with Siemens AG of Germany, makes networking equipment.

Hewlett-Packard CEO Mark Hurd resigns due to sexual harassment?
Mark V. Hurd, the chief executive of Hewlett-Packard Co. resigned last Friday with accusations of sexual harassment and falsifying expense reports. Eventhough, there is no complete details regarding this alleged accusations, the company has already made an internal investigations about the case.
Sexual Harrasment and Expense Reports
This issue buzzed the company as an unidentified contractor claimed she had been sexually harassed by Hurd. This contractor is allegedly having a personal relationship with Hurd and was reported to receive numerous inappropriate payments from the company.

The company's general counsel, Michael Holston, said Hurd's behavior reflected a "profound lack of judgment" and violated HP's standards of business conduct. But so far, the company found no evidence of sexual harassment
Hurd will receive a severance package of $12.2 million, according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Chief Financial Officer Cathie Lesjak, 51, will take over as interim CEO.
